Want to impress guests with a visually pleasing and more importantly… a delicious and fresh salad? This one’s for you.
Nothing infuriates me like a boring and dull salad. You know those little side salads pubs tend to give you? Luke warm cucumber slices, lettuce and sometimes, the devil himself, salad cream. Nightmare-ish stuff.
Truthfully, I don’t tend to ‘crave’ a salad. But when it’s something like this, you bet I’m craving it. It’s got all that stuff you love, juicy tomatoes, fluffy light buffalo mozzarella balls, salty goodness from the prosciutto… I could go on.
Let’s get started.
Cooking time: 10 mins. Makes 1 salad.
-A good handful of your choice of lettuce
-A couple of basil leaves
-1 or 2 big tomatoes (I used vine ripe tomatoes, but beef heart are the best. Don’t argue with me.)
-A couple of slices of prosciutto
-A couple of small buffalo mozzarella balls
-Salt and pepper to taste
Wash lettuce, tomatoes and basil. Depending on the lettuce, you may need to slice it up a little.
Place all the lettuce leaves on the bottom section of the plate. We basically want to build a layer for each item. Second, slice the tomatoes up and arrange them nicely onto the leaves.
Make sure you season the tomato slices, personally if a tomato is not seasoned I would 100% consider it a crime.
Pop the mozzarella balls on top along with the prosciutto and basil leaves.
Once you have arranged all the items, grate black pepper over the tomato and mozzarella. Finish by drizzling some olive oil on the top. You can even squeeze some fresh lemon to add a little zing.
Let me know if you decide to make this fresh salad. I would love to see your photo’s!
