I’ve been to this lil place twice now and the first time, I really didn’t think much of it. I didn’t think I liked lobster but the second time… I literally want to eat lobster every day (if I was a rich girl, are you singing Gwen Stefani too?)
I’m so ready to tell you all about it.
Restaurant: As Burger & Lobster is a chain, they are scattered all over London city so check out their location map here: https://www.burgerandlobster.com/en/locations
The restaurant has a really cool vibe, loud with music and people talking which I love. There’s nothing more I hate than a really quiet restaurant where everyone around can hear your conversations. We booked a table, because it does get pretty packed in there. So definitely make sure you book a table if you’re planning to visit.
The service is incredibly quick. The first time we visited, we both ordered Lobster Rolls and they were at our table within minutes. It was the same for this experience too, a couple of us had ordered Lobster Chowder’s and they arrived in about 3 minutes. They do not mess around.
The staff are also really full of life and entertaining, the whole ambience, service etc is definitely a 10/10.
It’s only fair to document my both experiences here so I will begin with my first, and my second.
My first experience put me off and I have to admit, I wasn’t really interested in returning. My boyfriend’s family invited me to go and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to try something new and I am so glad I did!
First of all, the Lobster rolls. I’m pretty sure Burger & Lobster are practically famous for these rolls so it seemed ridiculous to not try it. However, I really, really didn’t like the roll. The roll was warm and buttery, and the inside lobster was creamy and cold. It was such a confusing sensation on my pallet that I legitimately didn’t know how to react.
I kept trying more and more bites to see what I actually made of it and came to the conclusion that it really wasn’t something I enjoyed. This was my experience of it, but my boyfriend literally devoured his and the majority of mine and loved every bite. For me, the contrast of the warm butter roll and the cold creamy lobster just didn’t sit right. But it is beautiful looking, let’s admit.
My second experience was a complete turnaround and I thought extremely carefully about what to order this time. This time I decided to order the 1 pound grilled Lobster with garlic and lemon sauce. Best. Decision. Ever.
The meal came in no time and I have to admit, although I’m a dedicated foodie, I had NO idea how to eat the lobster. My boyfriend had to help me break up all the claws and get the meat out, although I felt a bit like a child, it was so much fun. It’s almost like a mission to get the most meat out possible.
The flavours are so immense. The lobster is soft yet slightly chewy which is exactly how it should be, it tastes fresh and perfectly grilled. And for the garlic lemon butter sauce they have? HOW do they make that? It was literal heaven, dunking the lobster into the sauce. There is also something special about their salad. I know right, salad? But can you dislike anything that hasn’t had parmesan raining all over it?
Price wise it’s really reasonable, one pound Lobster, fries and salad came to £23, which I think is really good, especially for the quality.
Overall delicious food, and you leave feeling good. After meals you can often find yourself feeling sluggish and close to a food coma, but this place leaves you feeling happily full and refreshed almost.
After my second experience I literally discovered lobster is my best friend and I need it more in my life. This place is great and the price isn’t steep at all especially for what you’re getting. I’d definitely come back here again for the quality food and if you’re a Lobster lover or even a newbie to Lobster, this is a perfect place to start.
Have you tried Burger & Losbter? What did you make of it?
