Today’s post is an ultimate guilty pleasure. Guilty, you may ask? Yeah. Because I have a holiday to go on soon, and eating a whole Camembert and garlic ciabatta is doing my figure absolutely no favours. Nevertheless, whilst I look at these pictures and wish I could eat all of this, I’m willing to share this with you because maybe you deserve it, or maybe you’ve already got a six pack and it’s your cheat day. Or maybe you just don’t give a fuck, and I wish I didn’t either.
You can eat this as a snack, an entree or just because. It’s cheese. We don’t have to justify.
For 2-4 (or 1, you know, if you’re having a down day).
Cooking time: 12-18 mins
-1 Camembert (Any type is fine. You can buy specific baking ones, but legit, any works)
-1 ciabatta (or a ready made garlic one)
-2 tablespoons of butter
-2 garlic cloves, crushed
Heat up your oven to about 200 degrees. If you are making the garlic ciabatta, mix butter and crushed garlic into a bowl and heat in the microwave for 20 seconds. It should be very soft and maybe even liquid, either is fine.
Slice your ciabatta, and cover in the garlic butter. You are welcome to slice off the initial top layer of the camembert which I think I prefer, or you can leave it on. But make sure to sprinkle pepper all over, because that adds another dimension to the cheese.
Put the camembert and bread onto a tray, and place into the hot oven. Have a drink whilst standing around wishing the cheese would bake quicker.
After 12 minutes, check the bread is cooked nicely, it should be crispy and golden. If you have the layer of skin on the cheese still, just prod gently at the cheese, you will feel if it melted inside as it will almost bounce about. If you have the skin off, it should be bubbly almost and golden.
Serve up and eat right away
